Deputy U.S. Trade Representative John Veroneau addresses American Chamber of Commerce

Ambassador John K. Veroneau, one of the three Deputy U.S. Trade Representatives in The Office of the United States Trade Representatives (USTR) is touring Europe.  In his speech "Globalization, Trade and Economic Growth,“ Ambassador Veroneau talked about free markets and the drivers and benefits of globalization and the increasing complexity of international economies.  Ambassador Veroneau referred to international trade as "no longer a game of checkers, but an increasingly complex game of chess."

USTR  is involved in direct negotiations with foreign governments to create trade agreements, resolve disputes and participate in global trade policy organizations. USTR is an Agency founded in 1962 with offices in Geneva and Brussels and employs more than 200 professionals with specialized experience in trade issues and regions of the world.  They negotiate directly with foreign governments to create trade agreements, resolve disputes and participate in global trade policy organizations. They also meet with governments, business groups, legislators and public interest groups to gather input on trade issues and explain the president’s trade policy positions.
